This hobby and its community welcomed me and my store with open arms when I was 15 years old.
Having been let loose in the wilderness that is the local book store of my neighborhood, I joyfully ran around looking at the different pictures, colors and texts laid out on the covers around me. As my 10-year-old attention span could only latch on to spectacles worth a glance, to my surprise, a blur of colors caught the edge of my eyesight and lingered. As I now gazed upon such a vibrant cover of a hero dressed in colored tights with an action pose I've only seen replicated in blockbuster movies and in plastic action figures, I knew I just had to pick it up and discover the story within. From that day on, the world I was brought into through pages upon pages of breathtaking artworks and compelling narratives has never left me. It has always been by my side as a momentary and blissful escape from the stress of day-to-day reality.
